Working globally to ensure that people who are deaf and hard of hearing can hear and talk. We want all families to be informed and supported, professionals to be appropriately qualified to teach and help children with hearing loss, public policy leaders to effectively address the needs of people with hearing loss, and communities to be empowered to help their neighbors with hearing loss succeed.

The American Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) is committed to empowering diverse families with deaf* children and youth by embracing full access to language-rich environments through mentoring, advocacy, resources, and collaborative networks. *ASDC uses the term “deaf” to be inclusive of various hearing levels, including those who are seen as, or identify as Deaf, deaf, or hard of hearing.

The goal of the Family Leadership in Language and Learning (FL3) Center is to increase family engagement leadership and strengthen family support in Early Hearing Detection & Intervention (EHDI) systems of care in order to enable families to optimize the language, literacy, and social-emotional development of their children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Hands & Voices is a non-profit, parent-driven organization dedicated to supporting families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing. We are non-biased about communication methodologies and believe that families can make the best choices for their child if they have access to good information and support.

Hearing First helps caring adults support infants and toddlers who are deaf or hard of hearing to have the same listening, spoken language, and literacy opportunities as their hearing friends. We equip families and professionals with the resources, communities, ad learning experiences they need to improve outcomes for children who are deaf or hard of hearing through listening and spoken language.

The GURCs were established in 1977. Through partnerships with host institutions, the four GURCs share Gallaudet’s undergraduate and graduate programs and the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center’s resources and expertise through training programs, workshops and conferences, youth programs, technical assistance, and consultation with deaf and hard of hearing individuals and their communities.

HRSA's Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) programs enable states, territories, families, and providers to develop complete and coordinated systems of care. The program aims to ensure that newborns, infants and young children who are deaf or hard of hearing are identified and get the care they need when they need it. Early involvement can help these children meet age-appropriate language, social, and developmental milestones.

The OCHL Study focused on examining the impact of early detection, early intervention and the use of hearing technology on children who are hard of hearing. Findings from this study show the positive impact of early access to hearing aids that are well fit and worn consistently on children's language development.
